Interpreter Services

If you or someone you care for is in need of medical services you have the right to a free medical interpreter. At  Fairview Ridges Hospital, we are committed to making sure that there is effective communication between patients and their medical providers by providing qualified interpretation services for all patients. We provide medical interpreters free of charge for limited English proficiency and deaf or hard-of-hearing patients.

Requesting an Interpreter
Patients or family members can request interpreters 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week. Hospital staff and providers may call for telephone interpretation or request in-person interpreters by calling 612-273-3780, option 2. In-person interpreters are provided for over 10 languages and dialects and telephone interpreters are available for over 150 languages.

Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Services
If you are hearing impaired, TTYs (telephone typewriters), also known as TDDs (telecommunication devices for the deaf), are available at our hospital and clinics. Phone amplifiers, pocket talkers, and baby cry signalers are available upon request. Certified American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters are available 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week. Translation Services
Patients, staff and providers can request translation of documents by calling 612-273-3788 or emailing translation@fairview.org. We translate all patient related materials at no cost to patients.Translated materials and patient information is available in:

  • Spanish
  • Somali
  • Russian
  • Hmong
