Your health and comfort as an expectant or new mother is important to us. Every birth is different. From labor, delivery and beyond, your physician and our lactation consultants are here to support you in every way. If you are expecting, come tour our attractive and spacious maternal and newborn area. Babies set their own timetable for and our staff is prepared to deal with any birth, under any circumstance. Mothers are given private rooms where they can labor, give birth and recover.

We provide:

  • Labor and delivery rooms with extra space for birth partners to stay;
  • Private rooms after delivery for you, your family and visitors; and
  • Room service so you can eat what you want, when you want it after your delivery.

Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU)
If at birth your baby requires advanced care, Fairview Ridges Hospital has joined the 5 percent of hospitals in the United States that provide a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). With the NICU upgrade and continued partnership with our Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic, you and your doctor have access to new therapies for treatment. These include but are not limited to preterm labor and hypertension, and mean you can deliver here at Fairview Ridges Hospital. The Fairview Ridges NICU team continuously works at the forefront of neonatal care. The team of advanced neonatal nurse practitioners, neonatologists and other staff can care for babies 30 weeks and greater.

Treatments we offer
Our staff helps you through the birthing process and reviews how to care your child, whether it is your first, or one of many. Each birth experience is different and we work to make this a special time for you. Sometimes new families need extra attention. Our staff makes sure that you receive the training and care needed during the critical hours before and after the birth. We also provide:

  • Birth and Family Education, pre-childbirth classes and post partum support and education
  • Breastfeeding Connection, lactation consultants
  • On-site special care nursery
  • Access to the Univerisity of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview Level 4 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

As part of our comprehensive program, you can enroll in our weekly parenting e-mail service for expectant parents. This service is free and includes customized information, news and resources that will guide you through pregnancy, labor and delivery and the first year of your baby's life. The Maternal-Fetal Medicine Center has full-service care for women who need high-risk obstetrical care. University of Minnestoa Physicians, nurses, ultrasound technicians and genetic counselors work together to make a plan and deliver care that meets your specific needs. They provide medical consultation, patient counseling, education, diagnostic testing and treatments. UMPhysicians introduces new ways to give patients superior health care results.

The Birthplace at Fairview Ridges Hospital is pleased to offer online pre-registration.
On-line registration is easy, secure and reduces your need to fax or mail pre-registration forms to us. This service allows for a speedier check-in process when you arrive at the hospital.
