Children's Pre-Surgery Program at
Fairview Ridges Hospital

An orientation for children and families

When your child is scheduled for a medical procedure or surgery, many questions undoubtedly come to mind. The Pre-Surgery Program helps children and their families become more familiar and comfortable with the hospital environment, to answer questions, and to lessen concerns.


 

This tour introduces children to the hospital and its environment ahead of time can help make your child’s visit to the hospital easier.


What happens during the tour?

  • A tour of Fairview Ridges Hospital and the Same Day Surgery area.
  • Children have an opportunity to examine and play with equipment associated with a hospital, such as stethoscopes, scrubs, and anesthesia masks.
  • Children and families have an opportunity to ask questions and voice concerns they have about coming to the hospital.
  • Parents have a chance to learn about hospitalization and how to prepare their child for admission.

Who can attend?

  • The program is designed for children through age 16, their parents and siblings.
  • Group tours are offered weekly for children up to age 12. Individual tours for older children are available upon request.
